Summary of Article:

Teamsters Union President James Hoffa Defended his infamous speech yesterday- one that warmed up the audience for President Obama in Detroit by Declaring war on the Tea Party and Republican Legislators.
A comment like that is bound to get attention and it did.

Hoffa is defending his speech.

Response: KnightRanger

Hoffa said, in defense of his speech, “I would [repeat it] because I believe it. They’ve declared war on us. We didn’t declare war on them, they declared war on us. We’re fighting back. The question is, who started the war?”

Yes, Mr. Hoffa, damn right the tea party ‘declared war’ on you and the likes of those who follow the same twisted principles that you yourself so wisely employ to gain national attention. Who started the war, you ask?  You did.  You, along with congress, unions, and the most socialist president we’ve seen since Woodrow Wilson.  You started it the moment you switched your focus from doing your job by carrying out the will of the people in the government we have created for you and started promoting your own agenda.  Hoffa said he was just “matching ‘fired-up’ conservative rhetoric when it comes to organized labor and Obama with ‘fired-up’ rhetoric of his own”.  Fired up?  Yes, you could say that. We well have a reason to be fired up.
If I recall correctly, the constitution does not say, “We the Congress, The House, the President, and the Labor Unions of America shall promote, protect, and defend their political agendas and opinions while attacking the minority whom they violently disagree with.”
Most certainly not. Although you seem to think otherwise. While everyone certainly has a right to free speech -you do as well and I respect that- There comes a line between promoting a cause you believe in by using common sense and rational campaign ideas, and violently attacking and likewise denouncing those- majority or minority- who disagree with your opinions and agenda.

In fact, I wholeheartedly promote your right to free speech. With a comment like this, and knowing that the majority of America’s possess common sense, they will be able to differentiate between a wise promotional speech and an obviously rash, violent, and biased one. You are only hurting yourself, while gaining 15 minutes of fame, and a whole lot of infamy. No one will remember you.  No one will talk about your wisdom, your integrity, your heart, your courage, and your upright principles when you’re gone.  If you’re fortunate enough to retain a memory at all, it will be that of a Liberal, Labor unionist who supported Obama (who will be immortalized in history books as the man who presided over the destruction of U.S. economy and the unimaginable loss of our country’s AAA credit rating. And you will be with him.) and could only find it in you to show your support by not making even false promises, but by attacking those whose beliefs you found opposed to yours, and felt you had to demean.

No, I do not think I regret giving you the right to free speech at all.  My only apprehension is that  by giving it to people like you, those who cannot think for themselves will fall into the trap of promoting opinion, rather than truth, and in turn, give those the power to take away the right which they so freely utilized to promote themselves to us, away from the people.

This article shows the power that free speech has in revealing the true opinions and agendas behind so many in large political groups and unions, and exposing those of us with common sense to those who have very little, if any at all.
It also shows us that people like this are everywhere, and come from all sides and that is it OUR responsibility AS A NATION to “preserve, protect, and defend” the principles that made us great.  The moment we relinquish our vigilance is the moment we lose our freedom, and our right to defend and preserve that freedom.
And when we lose that responsibility, we lose it forever. Learn now. Learn from these words you have forgotten, people of America:
“...with a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our lives, fortunes, and our sacred honor.”

By what honor do you pledge such words as heard yesterday?
